This year we decided to stop burying our heads in the sand and finally sort our sh*t out aka our messy finances! 😅 Creativity is what we love 💟 but financial literacy is 100% what we NEED to get better at... it's definitely one of the weaker points for both of us 😫 Why don't they teach this stuff in schools!? With many businesses evolving to a new flexible hybrid working style, where an employee can split their time between: the workplace and remote working. There has be an increasing demand to offer hybrid events solutions which give the best of both in-person and virtual experiences to match this changing landscape. Nothing beats human interaction! Yet, with many teams scattered across the country and with several offices abroad in different time zones, bringing everyone together can be a bit of a pain. Abcam were excited to be our first client to try out our new hybrid offering. Big up to the IT team who managed to get us setup on two big screens 🖥 allowing the creative event to be beamed live to the UK team office in Cambridge and for others joining in at home. 🏡 We had the pleasure of meeting up with Christele Wharfe née Vacca and her family last year at Cloud Nine Glamping in Dorset. Her son Gabriel was a little Picasso in the making, he even gave me and Josie Pitcher a few artworks to take home. 🎨🖌️ Fast forward 12months and we got the chance to catch up with this adorable family over face-time. Gabriel is now a prolific drawer and even showed us his new sketches! Funny how this brief encounter has now lead to our first hybrid experience with Abcam - Connection is about human interaction, and if you invest in relationships, the other person can get to know you and what you have to offer. Today marks the final day for our local postie Ranjit! Since moving into the area I would occasionally drop a few letters and parcels into the post office. 📮 Funnily I thought Ranjit disliked me at first... maybe because I took ages to sort out my post or maybe he just hated everyone! 😅 As, I usually witnessed him being somewhat irritated and annoyed by every customer. After getting to know him personally over the course of a few years. His once grumpy demeanour quickly changed and became a warm smile, every time I entered. During lockdown the post office became one of my most visited places, after redirecting the business to a direct to consumer model. 🎁 This meant he was one of only a few friendly faces that I got to interact with during this period. I genuinely looked forward to our little chats and his wise words of encouragement - we even traded Christmas gifts last year. (The man has good taste in wine🍷) It will be a shame to see him go! But I'll be very happy to see him go off to enjoy his retirement, away from us annoying customers! 💟 #SmallBusiness#CommunityLove#ArtSippers

Since starting ART SIPPERS almost 3years ago I have come to understand that anyone who says that running a business is ‘easy’ is an out and out liar or is probably trying to sell me a ‘sure thing’ pyramid scheme. 😅 Nobody told me that running a small business would feel like taking part in a David Attenborough wildlife documentary. Yes, everyday is a battle to survive, but thankfully there are no waves of snakes biting at my torso during my daily commute. 🐍 Business is very similar to nature and just like the little lizard, you have to get comfortable with uncomfortable situations to constantly challenge and conquer your fears. So, having a much loved and adored celebrity genuinely endorse our brand live on TV is beyond amazing!! 💟 The full segment was about how the Prince of Wales described that he finds painting "one of the most relaxing and therapeutic exercises I know" and its relaxing qualities “transports me into another dimension".
